THE AUSTRALIAN IBBY, 2014 HONOUR BOOKS The International Board on Books for Young People announced it's nominations for this prestigious award at the end of October 2013. An expert Australian panel selected Lightning Jack, illustrated by Patricia Mullins, as IBBY Australia's Honour Book for illustration. The book "showcases Patricia Mullins’ characteristic collage work, here meticulously blending torn and crushed tissue... her love and knowledge of horses come to the fore, too. With text by Glenda Millard (a previous Honour List awardee), the tale in powerful, thundering rhythm tells of a galloping blue black stallion.... The variety of textures and colours in the landscape is beautifully portrayed and the whole has a dreamlike quality. Movement is paramount...." Writers and illustrators from over 60 countries will be recognised on the 2014 IBBY Honour List. Patricia joins a prestigious international list of creators of books for young people. This is a biennial list of the most highly regarded titles of the previous two years." Click here to read the IBBY press release. |
